Working with C-TOOLS

C-TOOLS is available online at http://ctools.msu.edu/.

There are two modes to the C-TOOLS interface: an easel mode and a gallery mode. This enables you to flip between developing a concept map and looking at the set of concept maps you have developed.

The interface has been designed to be very intuitive. Probably the easiest way to learn about all the features is to spend a few minutes just playing around on the web site to see what it can do. For a more extensive description of utilizing the C-TOOLS software, read our Travel Guide to C-TOOLS.

Easel Mode

In easel mode, the concept map applet has a range of buttons that let you perform simple actions for generating the concept map. You will be in easel mode whenever you first visit the C-TOOLS web site (http://ctools.msu.edu/). Easel mode is for developing a single concept map.

Gallery Mode

In gallery mode, you can perform tasks that would be typical for managing any directory of software files. To get to gallery mode, you first need to login and create and save several concept maps. After that, use the NAVIGATION BAR located in the upper right of the C-TOOLS web interface and select "Map Gallery". You will see an interface that lets you scroll through your concept maps, name them with titles, edit them further, retrieve past versions, delete them, or submit one of them for an assignment,
